Day 18
Vietnam
A well-known social commentator was jailed for five years for making propaganda against the state. Le Van Dung released 12 short video clips outlining some criticisms of the government, which resulted in his arrest, trial, and sentencing. Pray for the political prisoners in Vietnam to encounter Jesus while in prison. Pray they may have soft hearts towards the love and justice of Jesus Christ. May they come to know that our all-powerful God is great and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom (The Bible, Psalm 145:3).

Economic reforms launched in 1986 have brought about significant growth and development; its performance during recent years has been the fastest in the previous ten. Of its 95 million people, 70 percent are under the age of 35. One of the last Communist states in the world, Vietnam’s government exerts great power. The state enforces strict controls over political and religious expression. House churches remain illegal, and churches must register though approval is rarely given as Christianity is viewed with suspicion and considered a Western influence.

Day 18
Yemen
The seven years of civil war in Yemen have battered the country. It has resulted in the country’s worst humanitarian crises, severe starvation, and utter poverty leading to civilian deaths. The conflict between the Saudi-led coalition and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels has resulted in a political shakeup. The president and the vice president were removed from power. The United Nations has brokered a two-month truce agreed by the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthi movement. Pray for the coalition and the rebels to stop all the military offensive operations. Pray for the hostilities to cease. Pray for an end the seven-year war. Pray for God to heal the Yemenis and give them new strength to start all over again. Pray for the Yemini Christian Believers to believe that in the midst of great turmoil, God’s mighty power can be experienced as He is with them always and He will uphold them in their deep troubles(The Bible, Psalm 46:1).

Yemen is listed in 7th position in the World Watch report 2021 by Open Doors for Christian persecution. Yemen’s President is Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Prime Minister is Maeen Abdulmalik Saeed. Yemen was facing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Yemen was historically known as Arabia Felix or the “Happy Land.” That’s because this small nation used to be one of the most fertile regions in the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen’s mountain ranges were welcoming sites for rain and agriculture. But today, Yemen is sadly the poorest Arab nation and is currently facing the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
