PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

Praise points

Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for preserving the Christian witness in Lebanon through centuries of hardship. May the faith of the Maronites, Orthodox, and Evangelicals continue to shine Your light. Psalm 92:12 – “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon.”

Father, we thank You for the mercy shown by Lebanese believers toward refugees and the poor—may their generosity reveal Christ’s heart to all. Hebrews 13:16Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Thank You, Lord, that despite instability, Christians in Lebanon still worship freely and proclaim Your Name. Galatians 5:1 – “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

Prayer Points

Almighty God, we lift Lebanon before You. Deliver this nation from the control of armed factions and corruption. Break the stronghold of fear and restore peace to all communities. Protect believers from intimidation and give them the courage to speak the truth. Psalm 37:17 – “For the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.

Lord Jesus, silence the voices of hatred and vengeance that divide Lebanon’s people. Bring repentance and reconciliation between Muslims and Christians, and among the Church itself. Ephesians 2:14 – “For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier.

Abba Father, strengthen new believers and Christian teenagers who face threats, rejection, or expulsion from their families. Surround them with Your presence and a loving community of faith. 2 Corinthians 4:8–9 – “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned.

A Call to Salvation

Holy Spirit, breathe new life into Lebanon’s young Christians. Replace fear with boldness, despair with hope, and silence with joyful witness of Your love. Isaiah 40:31But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles.”

Lord God Almighty, tear down the walls between denominations and unite Your people under Christ alone. Let the Church rise as one body to lead Lebanon with love and truth. John 17:23I in them and You in Me, that they may be brought to complete unity.”

Father God, restore Christian families in Lebanon. Let parents teach their children faith, integrity, and compassion, ensuring that future generations do not abandon Your ways. Deuteronomy 6:6–7These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.”

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Lebanon, a land once known as the “Switzerland of the Middle East,” holds a remarkable history dating back to the ancient Phoenicians, whose maritime trade shaped Mediterranean civilization. Later ruled by the Assyrians, Persians, Romans, Arabs, and Ottomans, Lebanon became a cultural crossroads blending East and West. Its people are known for hospitality, artistry, and resilience amid hardship. Christianity was established in Lebanon during the earliest centuries of the faith—tradition holds that the Apostle Paul visited the region of Tyre and Sidon (Acts 21:3–6). Later, Saint Maron, a 4th-century hermit, inspired the founding of the Maronite Church, which has remained a significant Christian presence in the country. Christian monasteries in Mount Lebanon became havens of faith, scholarship, and freedom throughout centuries of turmoil.

Today, Lebanon’s Christian teenagers face serious struggles. Economic collapse, political corruption, and emigration have left many disillusioned and without hope. Social rejection is growing toward Christian converts from Islam, many of whom are excluded from families and threatened for their faith. Inter-church division between Orthodox, Maronite, and Evangelical communities weakens their witness. At the same time, legal obstacles complicate Christian influence in government and education.

Regional tension and conflict with Israel also endanger peace, limiting stability and opportunities for youth. Lebanon’s Church is under threat from external instability, spiritual fatigue, and disunity. To prevent Christianity’s decline among Christian families, believers must return to the biblical model of unity (Ephesians 4:3), forgiveness (Colossians 3:13), and faithful endurance (Hebrews 12:1–2). They must strengthen families in prayer, restore trust between denominations, and focus on Christ above politics, remembering that the light of the Gospel shines brightest in dark times.
