China

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

A UN expert on modern slavery, Tomoya Obokata, reported that the allegations that China forces Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang region into forced labor are highly credible. There is significant evidence that forced labor partnered with excessive surveillance, abusive living and working conditions including physical or sexual violence and other inhumane or degrading treatment, could be described as crimes against humanity. Pray that a new beginning might take place among the minority groups in China; that a revival will sweep these regions as multitudes look to Jesus for deliverance (The Bible, Psalm 32:7).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

The world’s most populous country, China is also the world’s second-largest land area.  With a focus on nationalism, the Communist government tries to maintain social order by prohibiting large meetings and some social media sites. Mission organizations say that the church is the largest social force in China not controlled by the Communist Party. Authorities have continued their harshest crackdown on Christianity since the Cultural Revolution. Many expatriate Christian workers have had to leave as a result. Even the Bible is being “rewritten” to better reflect the government’s communist worldview.
