Eritrea has long been criticized for systematic human rights abuses. Citizens live under the constant threat of arbitrary detention, torture, and forced labor. Political opponents, journalists, and those accused of dissent often disappear without trial. The legal system is largely nonfunctional, and many are held in isolated, harsh prison conditions. Recruits in national service report degrading treatment, sexual violence, and punishments for perceived rebelliousness. Religious minorities, particularly Evangelical Christians, are frequently targeted, arrested, and denied the right to Worship. Migrants attempting to flee the country risk death, arrest, or extortion, and those caught are often tortured or imprisoned. International watchdogs, including Freedom House and the UN, rank Eritrea among the world’s worst violators of civil liberties, drawing comparisons to North Korea in terms of repression.
Pray for the end of the oppressive regime in Eritrea. Pray for the rights and freedoms of civilians to be upheld by the Eritrean government (The Holy Bible, Job 5:13).
Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Eritrea against the inhumane rights violations in the nation. Pray for miraculous deliverance from the oppression. Pray for all the civilians to experience and exercise true freedom in their homeland (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 23:18).
