Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recovered nearly $500 million in stolen funds last year, a major anti-corruption achievement. The agency also won more than 4,000 criminal convictions, its highest record to date. Corruption, however, remains an endemic problem in Nigeria that continues to undermine development. The nation is 140th among 180 on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index, reflecting persistent problems with poor governance and weak institutions that feed into widespread corruption.
Praise GOD for the efforts to fight corruption and for the recovery of the misappropriated funds in Nigeria. Pray for the LORD’s guidance for the authorities to build strong institutions and improve governance in the country (The Holy Bible, Micah 6:8).
Pray for the LORD’s intervention in Nigeria against corruption and its effects. Pray for Heavenly justice, truth, and peace to prevail in the nation (The Holy Bible, Matthew 6:10).
