IRAQ: A severe dust storm caused by a “Khamsin” depression led to 1,133 cases of suffocation across Iraq on May 4, 2026. Most cases were mild to moderate, and no fatalities were reported. Al-Muthanna was the hardest hit with 576 cases, followed by Najaf (300) and Baghdad (200). Authorities urged residents to stay indoors and follow safety measures, while hospitals remained on high alert. Many patients have already been treated and discharged, with healthcare services continuing to monitor the situation.

Abba Father, we declare divine protection over every affected region. Let no lasting harm come upon the people, and restore full health to those impacted. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:10).

Lord, we ask for calm over the environment. Let destructive dust storms cease and bring stable, safe weather conditions. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 107:29).
