In recent weeks, nearly 50 Christians have been killed in Nigeria, with attacks primarily by Fulani militants and Boko Haram, forcing many farmers to flee their homes. Displaced individuals are left in despair at IDP camps, while the Nigerian government has failed to intervene. A 2024 report from the Observatory for Religious Freedom in Africa found that Nigeria was responsible for 90% of all Christian deaths worldwide each year. The U.S. House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, recognizing the ongoing persecution, has approved a measure urging President Trump to impose sanctions on Nigeria for its failure to protect persecuted Christians. In 2021, Nigeria was removed from the U.S. State Department’s CPC list. Lawmakers hope sanctions will pressure the government to protect religious minorities, particularly in northern Nigeria.

Pray for the divine protection upon all the Christians in Nigeria, especially in northern Nigeria, from harm and violence. Pray that the Holy Spirit of GOD will empower and encourage all Nigerian believers facing oppression. Pray for divine provision for all people living in the IDP camp (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).

Pray for the Nigerian government to take immediate action to protect the Christian population in the country. Pray that the government will act impartially, ensuring equal protection for all, regardless of religion (The Holy Bible, Exodus 23:2).

Pray for the extremists in Nigeria to encounter the Love of GOD in supernatural ways. Pray for the untransformed hearts of the evildoers to perish by the breadth of the LORD’s anger. Let the roaring violence against the people of GOD be broken, in Jesus’s Mighty Name (The Holy Bible, Job 4:9-10).
