BHUTAN: Teachers in Bhutan are facing growing personal and professional strain due to long-distance postings that separate families for extended periods. Many married teachers live apart from their spouses and children, often serving in remote areas with limited chances of transfer. The transfer system is widely viewed as unclear and inconsistent, with some teachers waiting years despite difficult conditions. This separation leads to emotional stress, reduced motivation, burnout, and impacts both teaching performance and family well-being. While the Ministry of Education states that transfers—especially for marital reasons—are considered under official rules, final decisions depend on staffing needs, subject requirements, and service conditions, making it difficult to meet all personal circumstances.
Heavenly Father, grant strength and endurance to teachers who are separated from their families. Comfort their hearts in moments of loneliness and remind them of Your constant presence. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
Lord, renew the passion and energy of teachers facing burnout. Restore their joy in teaching and give them hope for better days ahead. Amen (The Holy Bible, Matthew 11:28).
