Reporters Without Borders (RSF) says Iran is one of the world’s top countries that jail journalists, after China, Russia, and Myanmar. The report says 21 journalists are in prison in Iran, and one is missing. RSF also warns that journalists are facing deadly risks in war zones like Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan. Almost 43% of all journalists killed this year died in Gaza. Many journalists have been forced to flee their countries, including those from Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, Sudan, and Myanmar. More than half of those seeking emergency help in 2025 were exiled. RSF says press freedom is quickly getting worse and calls for action against governments that detain or spy on journalists. Press repression in Iran has grown stronger since the 2022 protests.

Abba Father, we lift up every journalist imprisoned for speaking truth. Strengthen them, protect them, and bring them freedom. Lord, shield journalists working in places of conflict. Surround them with Your protection and guide them safely through danger. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 91:11).

Lord, we pray for nations where voices are silenced. Restore justice, courage, and truth in every land. Lord, comfort and sustain those forced to flee their homes. Provide them hope, community, and strength to continue their mission for truth. Amen (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:1).
