JAPAN: The coast guards of China and Japan have reported different versions of an encounter that took place near a group of islands in the East China Sea, which are important for both countries. On Tuesday, China’s Coast Guard stated that a Japanese fishing boat had entered the waters around the Diaoyu Islands, known as the Senkaku Islands in Japan. China claims these islands as their own, although Japan currently controls them. On the other hand, Japan’s Coast Guard claimed that they stopped and removed two Chinese Coast Guard ships as they got close to the fishing boat. This incident happens at a time when relations between the two countries are worsening, following some controversial remarks made by Japan’s leader regarding Taiwan.

  • Pray that the leaders of China and Japan will act with wisdom, restraint, and a commitment to peace, avoiding further escalation as tensions rise over the disputed islands (The Holy Bible, Luke 17:3).
  • Pray for the protection of all coast guard personnel and civilians involved, asking God to calm the atmosphere in the East China Sea and bring stability to the region (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 15:18).
