WESTERN SAHARA: The 49th Conference of the European Coordination for Solidarity with the Sahrawi People (EUCOCO) highlighted in its final statement that organizing a referendum in Western Sahara is crucial. This referendum should ensure the Sahrawi people’s right to choose their own future and stop the exploitation of their natural resources. Due to ongoing serious human rights abuses by Morocco, the conference urged the immediate release of all Sahrawi political prisoners in Moroccan jails and called for international observers and organizations to be allowed access to the occupied areas of Western Sahara. Through parliamentary, trade union, and workshop activities, participants worked on a wide-ranging mobilization plan to support the Sahrawi people’s undeniable right to self-determination, following relevant UN and Security Council resolutions.
- Pray for the protection of the Sahrawi people facing oppression and human rights abuses. Ask God to intervene so that all political prisoners are released and that justice prevails. Pray for international observers to gain access and for truth to be revealed (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:3–4).
- Pray that the call for a fair referendum will lead to a peaceful and just solution, allowing the Sahrawi people the right to determine their future. Ask God to guide international bodies and leaders to act with integrity, wisdom, and courage in line with truth and justice (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
