WESTERN SAHARA: The Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Bremen, Germany, has passed a resolution supporting Western Sahara’s right to independence through a fair and free referendum supervised by the United Nations. This resolution shows the party’s support for the Sahrawi people as they fight for their freedom, dignity, and self-determination. Approved at the party’s special conference, the resolution highlights that the Sahrawi people have been denied their rightful self-determination since 1975, when the territory was occupied. Additionally, it points out that the Sahrawi people continue to face marginalization and human rights violations, even though there are international decisions and rulings that back their rights.
- Lord, we pray for the Sahrawi people as they seek justice and self-determination. May their voices be heard, and their rights be upheld. We ask that you move the hearts of leaders around the world to support their quest for independence in accordance with international law (The Holy Bible, 2 Timothy 1:7).
- Lord, we pray for the Sahrawi people in their struggle against marginalization and human rights violations. Grant them strength and courage as they advocate for their dignity and freedom. May the international community stand in solidarity with them and work towards a peaceful resolution (The Holy Bible, Psalm 69:3).
