Domestic violence in Tajikistan is rising. In the first six months of 2025, officials reported 2,121 cases, 277 more than in the same period in 2024. Most incidents involved women (1,763 cases), an increase of 256. Men experienced 251 cases, which is actually fewer than before. Sadly, 102 women and 30 underage girls died by suicide in that period. Girls’ suicides increased by six compared to last year, even though overall suicides among women dropped slightly. To fight this, the government launched a big campaign. Officials talked door‑to‑door with over 430,000 families and held thousands of local meetings. They also opened a new 1313 hotline. In its first month, it got 58 calls, including nine from men, some saying they were abused by their wives’ relatives. Domestic violence is no longer hidden, but the pain is real, and many people are trying to do something about it.

Pray for the success of the efforts of the authorities to end domestic violence in Tajikistan. Pray for a change in society so that the dignity and worth of life, especially of women and girls, will be recognized and upheld in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:8).

Father GOD, we pray that the cry of Your people in Tajikistan reaches Your Throne. We pray for Your intervention in the lives of the people, especially women and girls in the country, facing violence and rejection. Let there be a transformation in their lives (The Holy Bible, Psalm 56:8-9).
