A burst of heavy rain has hit Saudi Arabia, especially affecting the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as Jeddah, Jazan, and surrounding regions. Streets turned into rivers, cars and buses got trapped or swept away, and highways flooded, causing major traffic chaos. The National Center for Meteorology issued red alerts for Mecca and Medina, warning of more rain, hail, strong winds, and low visibility. In Mecca’s Badr governorate, Al‑Shafiyah recorded an intense 49.2 mm of rain, while Jeddah’s Al‑Basateen got 38 mm. The Prophet’s Mosque area in Medina also saw heavy downpours of over 36 mm. Emergency teams, including thousands of cleanup personnel and Saudi Red Crescent units, responded quickly to help stranded people and improve traffic flow. Authorities urged residents and pilgrims to stay indoors, avoid flood-prone areas, and stay updated via official channels.
Pray for divine protection and provision for all the people, especially the flood victims, in Saudi Arabia during this rainy season (The Holy Bible, Psalm 62:8).
Pray for the success of the efforts of the government to safeguard the safety of the people living in the country and to strengthen the infrastructure to prevent more damage by the floods (The Holy Bible, Psalm 20:2).
