On 26th August, thousands of Israelis marched in the country, calling for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to approve a ceasefire and halt a scheduled attack against Gaza City. The biggest demonstration occurred in Tel Aviv, with participation from families of the hostages still being held by Hamas. Protests also occurred in Jerusalem, on highways, and even at Ben Gurion airport. In defiance of appeals for peace, Netanyahu is advocating for a ground attack, defying warnings of danger to starving Palestinians and hostages held captive. A ceasefire agreement that has been accepted by Hamas awaits Israel’s approval. The majority of Israelis agree to an agreement to end the war and release hostages, although many of them still hold the opinion that there are no innocent people in Gaza. Netanyahu is under pressure from far-right allies who are against a ceasefire. Critics blame him for keeping the war going to maintain himself in power. Demonstrators, including old people, claim to desire peace, but believe the government is not listening.
Pray for the end of the political unrest in Israel. Pray for a just and peaceful resolution to end the Israel-Hamas war. Pray for divine peace and justice to prevail in the country and the Middle East region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 55:18).
Pray for the safe return of all the remaining Israeli hostages. Pray for the Israeli government to take immediate action for their release and safe return to their homeland (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 23:18).
