SOMALIA: In a rare joint statement, three former presidents of Somalia urged an immediate stop to the sale of public land and called for housing for thousands of displaced people after a recent surge in evictions. The leaders strongly criticized the government’s management of public land deals, claiming there is no transparency and that legal processes are being ignored. They expressed their sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives in the violence and warned about the risky example being set by what they called “corruption and theft of public land.” Additionally, they encouraged the Somali business community to avoid getting involved in these questionable land sales.

  • Lord, we pray for the Somali government and its leaders to prioritize integrity and transparency in the management of public land. May they seek justice for the displaced and uphold the rule of law (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
  • Lord, we pray for the families affected by evictions and violence, asking for God’s comfort, provision, and healing during this difficult time. Pray that displaced individuals find safety and secure housing (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
