Sudan is facing its worst cholera outbreak in years, with at least 40 people dying in one week. The country’s civil war and heavy rains have made the situation worse by contaminating water and overwhelming sewage systems. Many people in camps and displaced areas drink dirty water because clean water is scarce. Medical centers are overwhelmed, treating patients on the floor due to a lack of space. Since last year, over 99,700 cases and 2,470 deaths have been reported. In Darfur, thousands of people fled fighting and live with very little water, making hygiene difficult. Cholera is also spreading to other parts of Sudan and neighboring Chad. Aid groups warn that the crisis needs urgent international help to improve healthcare, water, and sanitation, and to start vaccination campaigns. They say people affected by war must not die from this preventable disease.
Jehovah Rapha, we pray for Your divine healing upon those suffering from the Cholera outbreak and other diseases in Sudan. We pray for the Sudanese people to have immediate access to healthcare, clean drinking water, sanitation, and other essential resources (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 33:6).
Almighty GOD, You are the GOD of Restoration. We plead Your divine intervention in the desolate land of Sudan. Breathe Your Life once again into this land and rebuild the lives and livelihoods of all the Sudanese people (The Holy Bible, Joel 2:25).
