INDONESIA: President Prabowo Subianto has issued a strong warning that anyone who creates shortages of basic goods and other necessary items could be sentenced to as much as five years in prison and face fines up to Rp50 billion. “My government will act decisively,” he stated. “We will always take a firm stand against those who make life harder for people, especially those trying to profit from the struggles of the less fortunate.” Prabowo also cautioned dishonest businesspeople or those considering such actions that the government would remain vigilant against fraud, manipulation, deception, hoarding, and any other activities that disrupt food distribution to the public.
- Lord, we pray that God will grant wisdom and courage to leaders and authorities to effectively address issues of scarcity and corruption. May they act with integrity and compassion towards the people they serve (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:15).
- Lord, we pray for your protection and provision for the less fortunate who are impacted by shortages and dishonest practices. Pray that their needs are met and that they find hope and assistance during difficult times (The Holy Bible, Psalm 82:3).
