People in North Darfur’s city of El-Fasher are facing deadly famine due to a two-month siege by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The RSF blocks food and aid, forcing residents to eat animal feed called ambaz to survive. Prices for smuggled goods are very high. The United Nations says famine has reached the worst level, called IPC Phase 5. At the same time, a cholera outbreak is spreading quickly, with nearly 4,000 cases and 191 deaths reported. Poor sanitation and the rainy season worsen the situation. Aid groups say people are dying because they are too weak from hunger to fight the disease. Fighting between Sudan’s army and the RSF continues, with shelling and attacks killing many civilians. Despite UN calls for a pause in fighting, the RSF refuses. The war has displaced millions and caused one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.

Almighty GOD, break the siege and bring an end to the famine and uncertainty in El-Fasher in Sudan, just as You delivered the people of Samaria from siege and famine. Let Your peace and mercy prevail in the nation.  (The Holy Bible, 2 Kings 7:1-3).

Jehovah Rapha, we pray for Your divine healing upon those suffering from the Cholera outbreak and other diseases in Sudan. We pray for the Sudanese people to have immediate access to healthcare and other essential resources when they need them (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 33:6).
