In Brunei, youth employment remains a major concern in 2025. Many young people, especially graduates, are struggling to find good jobs. Unemployment among youth is still high, around 18–19%, and many of those who do work are underemployed, meaning they have jobs below their skill level or are working part-time when they want full-time work. This problem is partly due to a mismatch between what students learn in school and the needs of the job market. Many young Bruneians also prefer public sector jobs, which are limited, while the private sector is still small and growing slowly. Because of this, some talented youth are leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad, leading to a “brain drain.” Without stronger support for job creation, skill development, and entrepreneurship, Brunei risks losing a key part of its future workforce and slowing down progress toward its national goals.

Pray for wise counsel for the authorities to develop training programs that close the gap between the education system and labor market needs in Brunei, thereby reducing the country’s unemployment rate (The Holy Bible, Psalm 118:25).

Pray for more resilience and perseverance for unemployed young people in Brunei. Pray for open doors of new job opportunities to all unemployed youth in the country (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 24:14).
