PAKISTAN: According to the United Nations, Pakistan has begun deporting registered Afghan refugees before the deadline for them to leave. This action could result in more than 1 million Afghans being sent back to their home country. The UNHCR stated that this method of returning Afghans violates Pakistan’s international responsibilities. The UNHCR is urging the government to halt these forced returns and instead take a more humane approach, allowing for a safe, gradual, and dignified return of the Afghan people.

  • Lord, we pray for the Afghan refugees who are facing deportation from Pakistan. Please provide them with safety and protection during this uncertain time. May they find refuge and support in their hour of need (The Holy Bible, Psalm 46:1).
  • Lord, we pray that the leaders of Pakistan and the international community be moved with compassion and act justly towards the Afghan refugees. May they recognize their humanity and work towards solutions that honor their dignity and provide a safe, gradual return home (The Holy Bible, Micah 6:8).
