The UN warns that Sudan faces a serious crisis with hunger, disease, and displacement worsening. In North Darfur’s El Fasher, food is scarce and prices are high, causing community kitchens to close. Many people are very hungry, and some have died. Cholera is spreading in Tawila, and health centers need more help with clean water and toilets. In East Darfur, thousands of displaced people in the Lagawa camp suffer food shortages and violence, stopping aid from reaching them. Heavy rains and floods have displaced hundreds and damaged many homes in North Kordofan and Kassala states. Thousands in camps face cold, hunger, and poor conditions. In Port Sudan, extreme heat has caused deaths and many cases of sunstroke. Hospitals struggle with power outages and a lack of equipment. Sudan’s 2025 aid plan needs $4.2 billion but is only partly funded. The UN asks countries to give more money to help millions of people in urgent need.
GOD of all comforts, have mercy on the people of Sudan suffering war, extreme weather, food insecurity, and diseases. LORD, restore their destination towards safety and prosperity (The Holy Bible, Psalm 17:9).
Pray for the warring parties in Sudan to stop violent attacks and to come forward for peace talks. Pray for the LORD’s peace and justice to prevail in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 37:8).
