A new report shows that Ethiopian and Eritrean soldiers committed mass rape, forced pregnancy, and sexual torture in Tigray. Health workers treated thousands of survivors, including babies, children, and elderly women. Many were raped in public, by many attackers, often in front of their families. Soldiers used foreign objects to harm women’s bodies and tried to stop them from having children. Some women were forced to give birth to children of their rapists. These brutal acts aimed to destroy the Tigrayan ethnic group and are called crimes against humanity. Survivors suffer serious injuries and trauma, and many are rejected by their families. Some children were forced to watch the violence. Many health workers also suffer from stress and fear. The violence has not stopped and is spreading to other parts of Ethiopia. Experts say justice is urgently needed. Without punishment, such crimes may continue.

Pray for the international authorities to take immediate action to end the violence and bring justice to the oppressed in the Tigray region. Pray that the perpetrators of the Eritrean and Ethiopian forces are brought to justice immediately (The Holy Bible, Psalm 55:23).

Pray for the LORD’s love and comfort to fill the hearts and minds of the victims of the war crimes in the Tigray region. Pray for the LORD’s healing power upon them to heal them physically, psychologically, and spiritually. (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 41:10-13).
