Iran may soon start water rationing in most areas due to decades of poor planning and worsening climate change. Some cities have already begun rationing, with reports of water cuts and low quality in Tehran and other provinces. People are facing increasing water shortages and outages, especially during ongoing extreme heat. A lawmaker blamed the crisis on placing water-heavy industries like steel and petrochemicals in desert regions. The president of Iran warned that the crisis is worse than what’s being publicly discussed. He called for urgent action to avoid an unfixable disaster in the future. A public holiday was declared in Tehran Province to help conserve electricity and water. Confusion arose after reports about distributing drinking water in plastic pouches were later denied by officials.

Abba Father, we declare Your mercy over Iran and ask for Your hand to provide water and restore balance to the land. Heal the land from drought and mismanagement (The Bible, Isaiah 41:17-18).

Lord, we speak peace over every city in Iran facing this crisis. Comfort those without clean water. Open new ways for safe access, and send help quickly to those in need (The Bible, Isaiah 58:11).
