Senegal: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized Senegal for successfully eliminating trachoma as a public health issue. This makes Senegal the ninth country in the WHO’s African Region to reach this achievement. This milestone highlights the significant advancements being made worldwide in the fight against neglected tropical diseases and provides encouragement to other nations still striving to eradicate trachoma. WHO is assisting Senegal’s health officials in closely monitoring communities where trachoma was once common to prevent any reemergence of the disease.
- Lord, we pray for the health officials and communities in Senegal as they work to monitor and maintain the elimination of trachoma. May they be granted wisdom and resources to prevent any resurgence of the disease and continue to promote public health (The Holy Bible, 3 John 1:2).
- Lord, we pray that other countries struggling with neglected tropical diseases find inspiration and support through Senegal’s success. May the global community unite in efforts to combat these diseases, bringing healing and hope to those in need (The Holy Bible, Galatians 6:9).
