Tibet: Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration made his first official visit to Newcastle, marking an important step in his efforts to connect with the Tibetan diaspora and supporters in the UK. He reflected on his earlier visits to various cities in the UK, noting that this was his inaugural trip to Newcastle. He highlighted the crucial importance of the Tibetan community and the Tibetan language, recognizing the active involvement of the Voluntary Tibet Advocacy Group (V-TAG) in Newcastle, Australia, and praising its efforts in raising awareness and building advocacy networks beyond the Tibetan community. He emphasized the need to preserve the Tibetan language and urged Tibetan youth to recognize their responsibilities, particularly as Tibetans living in Tibet continue to face a lack of basic freedoms under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party.
