Egypt: Egypt’s Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, held a meeting with the Mexican Ambassador to Cairo, Leonora Rueda Gutierrez, to discuss potential collaboration on important environmental matters such as desertification, climate change, and waste management. In light of growing global instability, food insecurity, and worsening climate effects, Fouad emphasized that desertification is one of the most urgent environmental challenges. She pointed out that 2026 will be a crucial year, as all three Rio Conventions will hold their conferences, presenting a unique chance to galvanize political commitment, international cooperation, and funding. Ambassador Rueda conveyed Mexico’s interest in learning from Egypt’s experience in turning environmental issues into economic opportunities. She mentioned mutual concerns, particularly the effects of desertification and flash floods on agriculture. Mexico is currently focused on modernizing traditional farming methods and creating educational programs centered on biodiversity and sustainability, areas where enhanced collaboration with Egypt could be highly beneficial.

  • Lord, we pray for fruitful collaboration between Egypt and Mexico as they work together to address pressing environmental issues. May their efforts lead to innovative solutions and effective strategies to combat desertification and climate change (The Holy Bible, Psalm 133:1).
  • Lord, we pray that both nations will successfully implement sustainable agricultural practices and educational programs that promote biodiversity. May these initiatives foster resilience against climate change and improve food security for their populations (The Holy Bible, Psalm 24:1-2).
