In Eritrea, people still suffer for practicing their religion. Both recognized and unrecognized religious groups face arrests and mistreatment. From January to May, at least 110 Christians were arrested, including some children. Security forces raided homes, arresting 24 people in one incident. Later, they also arrested an 85-year-old woman from the same home. Some Christians face ongoing persecution. Since 1993, they’ve been jailed without trial just for their faith. As of now, 63 people remain in prison, 10 of them are over 70 years old. Children in this group are also bullied and sometimes expelled from school for not joining national ceremonies. The government offers little to no legal protection for those targeted. This ongoing repression makes it dangerous for people to worship freely and has drawn strong criticism from international observers. Despite years of concern from human rights groups, Eritrea continues to silence religious expression and punish those who choose to practice their faith outside of state control.

Pray against the repressive regime in Eritrea. Pray for the Holy Spirit of GOD to turn the hearts and minds of the Eritrean authorities towards Truth, justice, and righteousness. Pray for the Eritrean government to abide by international human rights laws and uphold the rights and freedoms of civilians (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:1).

Pray for religious freedom in Eritrea. Pray for divine protection upon all the Christians in the country. Pray for the immediate release of all the imprisoned Eritrean believers (The Holy Bible, Psalm 119:116).
