Pakistan has called the presence of militant groups in Afghanistan a major challenge and a key barrier to improving ties between the two countries. Relations worsened in 2023 after Pakistan began cracking down on undocumented migrants, many of whom were Afghans, over security concerns. Pakistan says militants like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) use Afghan territory to launch attacks, a claim the Afghan Taliban denies. Despite these tensions, both countries have recently tried to improve relations through diplomatic talks and by agreeing to appoint ambassadors. Pakistan’s foreign office spokesman, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, said the issue of militant safe havens in Afghanistan was discussed in recent meetings and remains a serious obstacle to regional cooperation. He stressed that Pakistan is engaging with the Afghan authorities in good faith and hopes for stronger ties, but terrorist sanctuaries must be addressed for real progress.
Pray for the unity and oneness between the authorities of Afghanistan and Pakistan to find a peaceful solution for the complete eradication of extremism and violence along their borders. Pray for peace and friendly relations between the two countries (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 21:3).
Pray for the LORD’s intervention in the region to destroy all the extremist groups and their evil agenda against the innocent civilians and nations (The Holy Bible, Nehemiah 4:20).
