Japan: Approximately 30 members of the Lucifers street gang voluntarily entered the Atsuta Ward police station in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, to officially disband the gang. Established in the mid-1990s, the gang operated in Atsuta Ward and grew to around 500 members over the years. Despite numerous arrests for crimes such as assault and theft, law enforcement struggled to eradicate the gang fully. During the dissolution ceremony, which included members ranging from their teens to their 50s, the remaining members pledged to “never again cause trouble or distress” and vowed not to reestablish the gang. Atsuta Precinct chief Masaki Suzuki expressed his hope that they would honor their commitments, encouraging them to focus on their personal work and studies. The attendees also expressed their intention to do so.
- Lord, we pray for the former members of the Lucifer’s street gang as they transition into new lives free from gang involvement. Provide them with guidance and strength to resist negative influences and support them in their personal and professional endeavors (The Holy Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17).
- Lord, we pray for peace and safety in the Atsuta Ward community following the disbandment of the gang. Bring healing and restoration to any individuals or families affected by the gang’s past actions and encourage a spirit of unity and support within the community (The Holy Bible, Exodus 14:14).
