Türkiye is facing a major wave of forest fires, with over 624 reported by early July. Fires have burned large areas, especially in Izmir, where 50,000 people were evacuated. Strong winds and high heat made firefighting difficult. Some fires started from accidents, like a beekeeper’s smoke. Though Türkiye has improved its fire response with planes, helicopters, and faster detection, many fires still overwhelm resources. Power lines are blamed for some fires, but energy companies deny it. Critics say privatization has led to poor maintenance. Despite only causing 4% of fires, power line fires burn 20% of the total forest area. Experts say more focus is needed on prevention, not just response. Social media is full of images of burnt land, exhausted firefighters, and rescued animals. Many people feel angry, helpless, and frustrated. Though arrests were made, none were from electricity companies. Public trust is low, and calls for accountability are growing louder.

Pray for improved infrastructure and maintenance in Türkiye to combat forest fires in the nation. Pray for divine protection over all the civilians from raging wildfires in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 70:1).

Pray for wise counsel for the authorities as they work to control the spreading wildfires in Türkiye. Pray for aid and support to reach the people in need at the right time (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 11:14).
