Western Sahara: According to a recent UN investigation, catastrophic malnutrition rates are currently affecting the Tindouf camps, which are controlled by the Polisario and located in Algeria. The findings highlight the harsh conditions endured by thousands of Sahrawis who are trapped in these remote camps. The malnutrition rate stands at 13.6%, the highest since 2010, and is deemed “critical” by World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This humanitarian crisis poses a direct threat to the lives of those detained, especially young children under five and women. One in three children experiences stunted growth due to chronic malnutrition, while 65% of children and 69% of women are affected by anemia. Only 25% of households have access to minimally acceptable nutrition. The nutritional situation has reached its most severe point in over a decade, indicating a genuine humanitarian emergency.

  • Lord, we pray for the provision of adequate nutrition and resources for the families and children in the Tindouf camps. Ask God to raise awareness and prompt timely assistance from humanitarian organizations (The Holy Bible, Matthew 6:11).
  • Lord, we pray for the healing and restoration of health for those affected by malnutrition, especially young children and women. Ask God to bring comfort and strength to those who are suffering during this crisis (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).
