Sudan’s Sovereign Council President, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has approved a seven-day humanitarian ceasefire in El-Fasher, North Darfur. This comes after a call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who asked for a temporary truce to help deliver aid to civilians affected by fighting. The ceasefire aims to support humanitarian work in El-Fasher, a key city for aid in Darfur’s five states. However, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have not responded yet, and the start date is unclear. Fighting between Sudan’s army and the RSF has worsened since May 2024, despite warnings. The conflict began in April 2023 when army and paramilitary leaders clashed. So far, over 24,000 people have died, 13 million have been displaced, and the country faces famine and disease outbreaks. Both sides face accusations of war crimes.
Pray for the authorities of warring parties in Sudan to take immediate action to strengthen the ceasefire agreement. Pray for divine protection upon all the innocent civilians in the country (The Holy Bible, Micah 2:13).
Pray for immediate and unconditional access to humanitarian aid, vaccinations, and other basic needs for all the people in Sudan, facing violence and uncertainty (The Holy Bible, 2 Kings 17:39).
