Western Sahara: An open letter was issued by 358 organizations and 378 prominent individuals, directed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, urging immediate action regarding Saharawi political prisoners held by the Kingdom of Morocco in blatant violation of international human rights laws. The signatories caution that Morocco’s ongoing disregard for these laws erodes the credibility of international human rights frameworks and jeopardizes the authority of the United Nations. This letter emerges alongside increasing demands from civil society and the Saharawi people for the international community to take tangible measures to end Morocco’s unlawful occupation of Western Sahara and to address the human rights crisis in the occupied regions.

  • Lord, we pray for the immediate release of Saharawi political prisoners and that their human rights will be respected. Ask for God’s intervention in their lives, bringing them freedom and justice (The Holy Bible, Psalm 146:7).
  • Lord, we pray for the international community to recognize the plight of the Saharawi people and to take action against violations of human rights in Western Sahara. Ask God to give wisdom and courage to leaders who can effect change (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:8).
