Algeria: Three individuals lost their lives after falling from the upper section of a stadium in Algeria immediately following the final whistle, as the local football team MC Alger secured the league title. Many others were injured when a security barrier gave way, causing fans to surge forward in celebration and fall onto the lower tier of the 5 July Stadium in Algiers. MC Alger successfully defended the league title they had won the previous year. The atmosphere during the match was festive, with green smoke from flares filling the stadium. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the league trophy presentation was postponed. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune expressed his condolences and wished a swift recovery for those injured.
