Bangladesh has recorded its highest single-day toll of dengue-related hospitalizations this year, with 392 patients admitted in the past 24 hours. According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services, two more people have died from the mosquito-borne disease—one within Dhaka North City Corporation and the other in Barishal Division outside the city corporation areas. This brings the total dengue death toll in the country to 34, with 15 of those deaths occurring outside the capital.
The overall number of confirmed dengue cases has now risen to 8,150 since the beginning of the year. Currently, 1,039 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country. Of these, 753 are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka, reflecting a widespread increase in dengue infections beyond the capital. The health authorities continue to monitor the situation as they urge the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent further spread.
Abba Father, we bring before You all who are suffering due to the dengue outbreak in Bangladesh. May Your healing hand rest upon the sick, restoring their strength and health. Protect those who are vulnerable, especially in areas with rising infections. Empower doctors, nurses, and health officials with Your wisdom and strength as they care for the afflicted and work to contain the spread (The Bible, Psalm 147:3).
Lord, we remember those who have lost their loved ones to this disease. Wrap them in Your loving presence and grant them comfort that surpasses all understanding. Let them feel Your nearness in their grief and give them hope amidst sorrow (The Bible, Psalm 34:18).
