A peaceful, student-led anti-corruption rally took place in Kota Kinabalu, organized by Suara Mahasiswa and attended by over 100 people, mainly students from University Malaysia Sabah. The protest, named Gempur Rasuah Sabah 2.0, demanded clean governance, action on corruption, and solutions to ongoing water shortages affecting the university. The rally was approved by police, who supported public order throughout the march. Participants carried placards, marched through city streets, and ended with a planned 24-hour sit-in at Lintasan Deasoka.
Despite minor tension with a small group displaying a political banner, no serious incidents occurred. Rally leaders emphasized their non-political stance and urged for investigations into local corruption, a fully autonomous MACC office in Sabah, and review of state leadership appointments. Meanwhile, a smaller group held a brief rally to show support for the state government and its student-focused policies.
Abba Fathe, we pray for the leaders and officials in Sabah and across Malaysia. Raise up leaders who act with integrity and humility. Guide the authorities to respond to these student-led calls for justice, clean governance, and accountability. May truth shine through, and may every corrupt practice be exposed and replaced with righteousness. Amen (The Bible, Isaiah 1:17).
Lord, we thank You for the boldness and unity of these young people standing up for what is right. Protect their hearts and keep their efforts peaceful and impactful. Grant them wisdom and perseverance as they speak for their communities. Let their actions inspire positive change, and may their voices be heard with honor and grace. Amen (The Bible, 1 Timothy 4:12).
