Tibet: The European Union and the People’s Republic of China held their 40th human rights dialogue, during which the EU expressed significant concerns regarding the deteriorating human rights situation in China, particularly highlighting the repression in Tibet. The discussion covered a broad range of human rights issues, such as ongoing limitations on freedom of expression, religion and belief, peaceful assembly, and the rights to equality and non-discrimination. The EU stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in China’s human rights practices, calling for an end to arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, torture, and mistreatment. Additionally, the EU addressed the situations of several imprisoned Tibetans, advocating for better treatment and conditions for Tibetan monks, writers, and activists.

  • Lord, we pray for the voices of the oppressed in China, especially in Tibet. We ask for strength and courage for human rights advocates and organizations working tirelessly to bring attention to the violations of freedom of expression, religion, and peaceful assembly. May their efforts lead to meaningful change and justice (The Holy Bible, Deuteronomy 31:8).
  • Lord, we pray for those who are imprisoned unjustly in China for their beliefs and expressions. We pray for their physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. May they experience Your presence and peace, and may their plight stir the hearts of many to advocate for their release and better treatment (The Holy Bible, Psalm 34:18).
