China: China holds a near-monopoly on 17 metallic elements that are essential for a wide range of everyday products, including cars, jet engines, and electronics like smartphones and flat-screen TVs. These elements are also vital for the contrast dye used in MRI machines and certain cancer treatments. Recently, China has made access to these elements even more challenging by implementing a new licensing requirement for their export in April, which has effectively slowed down shipments to many countries, including the United States. The only way to prevent major disruptions is for China and the U.S. to come to an agreement that would restore the normal flow of rare earth elements.

  • Lord, we pray that leaders in China and the United States will be guided by wisdom and a spirit of cooperation as they seek to resolve the issues surrounding the export of rare earth elements. May diplomacy prevail, leading to an agreement that benefits both nations and promotes global stability (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 15:22).
  • Lord, we pray for innovation and the development of alternative sources for rare earth elements so that countries relying on these materials may find new solutions and reduce dependency on a single source. May creativity and resourcefulness flourish in addressing this challenge (The Holy Bible, Isaiah 43:19).
