Algeria: More than 7,000 people, mostly from Niger and sub-Saharan Africa, were forcibly relocated from Algeria to the Assamaka Desert in Niger in April and May 2025 due to irregular administrative circumstances. Without access to food, drink, or medical care, these people are traveling across the desert in trucks in extreme weather, such as drought, temperatures above 111°F, and sandstorms. All of their possessions are gone. They rush to the water points set up by Doctors of the World for people who have been turned away in Agadez as soon as they get off the trucks.
- Lord, we pray for protection and provision for those who have been expelled and are vulnerable in the harsh conditions of the desert. Lord, help them find immediate access to food, water, and medical care (The Holy Bible, Psalm 9:9).
- Lord, we pray for the organizations and individuals working to support the displaced persons. May they be granted strength, resources, and compassion to provide the necessary aid amid these challenging circumstances (The Holy Bible, Galatians 6:2).
