Day 9

Mali

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

Praise Points

Lord, we thank You for Mali’s rich history of learning and culture that shows the dignity You placed in this land. May these gifts be redeemed for Your glory. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

Father, we are grateful that a faithful Christian witness remains in Mali despite Islam’s dominance. Thank You for the missionaries who planted the seed of the Gospel. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow” (1 Corinthians 3:6).

God, we praise You for preserving Your Church in Mali even in the midst of instability and persecution, a sign that the gates of hell cannot prevail. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).

Prayer Points

Almighty God, we pray against the spirit of violence and extremism rising in Mali. Protect Christians and turn the hearts of those deceived by hatred. “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you” (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord of justice, we cry out against oppression—against coups that silence the people, against censorship that hides the truth. Restore righteousness in Mali. “Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24).

Father, we plead against the crushing poverty and lack of infrastructure that leave Mali’s youth hopeless. Provide, O Lord, and open doors for growth. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

A Call to Salvation

Lord, strengthen Christian parents and leaders to raise teenagers who stand firmly in faith, unmoved by persecution or poverty. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).

Holy Spirit, empower Malian believers to live holy and uncompromising lives, rejecting fear and shining as witnesses even in dark times. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (John 8:12).

Father, bring unity among the churches in Mali, so that together they can evangelize, disciple, and secure the faith for future generations. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Mali is a poverty-stricken West African country in the 10/40 Window that traces it’s roots to a once prosperous history. It is home to the ancient and legendary learning center of Timbuktu.

Its culture remains deeply rooted in oral traditions, music, and communal life. Still, Islam became the dominant faith centuries ago, shaping much of Mali’s identity.

Christianity entered Mali later, through Catholic missionaries and Protestant societies in the 19th and 20th centuries, with leaders from French Catholic missions and Protestant groups working to establish schools and churches in key towns. Yet today, Christian teenagers in Mali face overwhelming struggles. They grow up in extreme poverty, often excluded from opportunities due to poor education outreach and a lack of critical infrastructure. They live under the shadow of military coups, political oppression, and media crackdowns. They face intimidation from the rise of Islamic extremism that directly threatens the survival of the Church.

The Malian Church is under threat not only from external persecution but also from its small size, limited resources, and lack of unity. To reverse this condition, Malian Christian Believers must embrace biblical changes—living with courage, rejecting fear, walking in holiness, building unity in Christ, and raising children firmly grounded in the faith despite the hostility around them. They must model integrity and perseverance so future generations inherit a living, uncompromising faith in Christ.

Azerbaijan

PRAYER FOR THIS COUNTRY

Praise Points

Heavenly Father, we thank You for preserving pockets of Christian faith in Azerbaijan despite centuries of foreign domination and societal pressure. “Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).

Lord Jesus, we praise You for the resilience of Christian families and communities that continue to worship and serve You under difficult conditions. “But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).

Heavenly Father, thank You for the rich cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, which provides avenues for Christians to witness through art, music, and service. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (James 1:17).

Prayer Points

Almighty God, we pray against restrictions that limit the freedom of Christians to practice their faith openly. “When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes” (Luke 10:3-4).

Abba Father, we lift up the SCWRA and all unwritten social pressures that weaken Christian families, asking You to bring protection and guidance. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).

Almighty God, we pray against the erosion of faith in young Christians due to isolation, peer pressure, and lack of mentorship. “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Isaiah 54:13).

A Call to Salvation

Abba Father, help Christian parents and leaders to actively teach the Word of God in homes and families, ensuring faith is passed to the next generation. “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace” (Isaiah 54:13).

Abba Father, empower Believers in Azerbaijan to live in holiness and integrity, resisting compromise with cultural pressures. “But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do” (1 Peter 1:15).

Almighty God, unite the churches and believers in Azerbaijan to disciple youth, mentor families, and boldly share the Gospel even under restrictive conditions. “That all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You” (John 17:21).

MORE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY

Azerbaijan is a Central Asian country in the 10/40 Window region. Its culture reflects a rich tapestry of music, carpet weaving, literature, and Islamic traditions. However, the nation also preserves ancient Christian heritage, particularly from the Caucasian Albanian Church.

Christianity arrived centuries ago, with early missionaries and clerics establishing churches and spreading the Gospel. Later European missionaries reinforced Christian education and worship. Today, Christian teenagers in Azerbaijan face struggles due to the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations (SCWRA), restrictive legal frameworks, and unwritten social pressures, which limit religious expression and access to proper discipleship. The Church is under threat from government monitoring, societal pressure to conform to majority Islamic traditions, and the weakening of Christian family structures.
