Day 1
India
This month we are remembering Jesus’ commissioning to go and share the Gospel. When Jesus appeared to his disciples, He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Pray these verses over the Christian Believers across India, that they may step into Jesus’ calling to share Christ with the millions of Indians who do not yet know and love Jesus. Pray that God will surround them and strengthen them in the face of persecution.
(The Bible, Matthew 28:16-20).
The world’s second most populous country, India offers a vast array of languages and cultures. India gave birth to Hinduism but hosts the world’s second-largest Muslim population. For the fourth year in a row, India is in the 2022 World Watch List’s top 10 countries with the worst Christian persecution. Under the leadership of the hard-line Hindu nationalist party, the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and then the pandemic, life became even harder for Indian Christians. Many were denied aid and struggled to provide for their families. But, God is using these same believers to be His agents of love and compassion. Mission organizations vigorously equip grassroots pastors and leaders to carry out Gospel outreach. Though many people in India have never heard the name of Jesus, hearts are open to the Good News like never before! The Lord is using Christian Believers in the most challenging circumstances to proclaim the gospel in an unprecedented manner. In 2022, a new president was appointed, Ms. Droupadi Murmu; the first president from a marginalized tribal community.

Day 1
Mauritania
Extreme hunger and malnutrition are a barrier to sustainable development in Mauritania. Food security will exist only when people have access to food that is both sufficient and nutritious. The US Government’s contribution of $2 million to the World Food Program’s Food Security Program is important. These funds will help WFP undertake a four-month cash transfer operation in urban Nouakchott, which will target 20,560 food-insecure families who have been severely affected by the surge in the prices of food and other basic services, and who have also suffered as a result of the recent floods. Pray that the US government’s $2 million contribution to promoting food security in Mauritania will materialize early. Pray for the Mauritanians to believe in the sustainability of God’s provision and live liberated lives (The Bible, Romans 8:2).

Mauritania is listed in 23rd position in the World Watch report 2022 by Open Doors for Christian persecution. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania lies on the Atlantic coast of North Africa. The Sahara makes up 90% of Mauritania’s land. The President / the Prime Minister is Mohamed Ould Bilal. Though filled with natural beauty and political peace compared to many of the surrounding countries, Mauritania is one of the poorest Arab nations with social and political problems, including racism, slavery, illiteracy, child marriage, and female genital mutilation. The government is intolerant of conversion to Christianity. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and Movement for Unity and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO), particularly active in the country’s eastern border regions are the Violent Islamic extremist groups in the country.
