Tensions are growing between Israel’s military and Prime Minister Netanyahu over plans to expand the war in Gaza. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned the government that taking over Gaza City could harm Israeli hostages, displace many Palestinians, and lead to full Israeli control of Gaza. He also urged leaders to accept a ceasefire deal backed by Egypt and Qatar, which Hamas agreed to. Netanyahu ignored the advice, seeking a total victory and the full release of hostages. Some far-right allies accused Zamir of being weak, with even Netanyahu’s son calling it a “military coup.” Meanwhile, hundreds of Israeli reservists say they will refuse orders to join the Gaza City operation. They believe it puts hostages at risk and causes unnecessary suffering. The group, “Soldiers for Hostages,” says the war’s goals are unclear and the offensive is morally and legally wrong. They have asked the army’s legal chief to stop the operation.

Merciful GOD, soften the hearts of leaders and mediators and guide them to seek peace, justice, and unity for all people. Bring an end to the suffering of the innocent people in the region (The Holy Bible, Psalm 147:3).

Almighty GOD, we pray for continued progress in the hostage exchange and the safe return of all captives, for nothing is impossible for You. (The Holy Bible, Luke 1:37).
