Low-income workers in Bhutan, particularly in Thimphu, are facing severe financial hardship due to stagnant wages and a rapidly rising cost of living. Many employed in sectors like hospitality, retail, and manual labor struggle to survive, with salaries often barely covering rent, leaving little for basic necessities or savings. The issue is rooted in structural challenges, including policy delays and lack of labor protections, despite constitutional goals to reduce inequality. Rising rents and inflation have worsened conditions, trapping workers in cycles of debt and limiting their ability to improve their situation. Limited access to education and skill development further restricts upward mobility, forcing many to endure poor working conditions and financial instability with little hope for change.
Pray for the LORD’s provision for low-income workers struggling to meet their daily needs. Pray that He will open doors of better opportunities and supply abundantly beyond their limitations. (The Holy Bible, Philippians 4:19).
Pray for the LORD’s justice and righteousness to prevail in workplaces and policies. Pray that fair wages, dignity, and protection will be established for every worker. (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 14:31).
