Several infectious diseases like dengue fever and hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) are increasing in Vietnam, especially in southern areas. These illnesses spread easily during hot and rainy weather. Health officials say dengue cases have already reached over 30,000 this year, while hand, foot, and mouth disease has affected many children. One concern is the spread of the EV71 virus strain, which can cause more serious illness in young children. Many people still misunderstand how these diseases spread. For example, dengue mosquitoes can breed in clean water found in containers around homes, not just dirty water. Experts say prevention is very important. People should remove standing water, keep their surroundings clean, and protect themselves from mosquito bites during the day. Parents should also watch for symptoms in children and seek medical help early to prevent complications and stop the spread within communities.

Prayer:

Pray for the LORD’S protection upon all the people in Vietnam from the Dengue and HFMD outbreak. Pray for the LORD’S healing power upon all the infected victims (The Holy Bible, Matthew 8:7).

Pray for wise counsel for the Vietnamese authorities to implement more precautionary measures to combat the spread of the disease (The Holy Bible, Exodus 18:19).
