NEPAL: Nepal’s political scene is quite unstable. Interim governments have served as a link between crisis and stability. Over the past thirty years, three of these governments stand out: Krishna Prasad Bhattarai’s government in 1990, Khilraj Regmi’s government in 2013, and Sushila Karki’s government in 2025. Each of these governments emerged from a political stalemate. The movement in 2025 highlighted the strong digital political awareness and youth dissatisfaction in Nepal. While Karki’s strong stance against corruption and her judicial firmness offer some hope, challenges like economic reform, political unrest, and legal issues present significant dangers. Amidst the controversies, critics took her statement seriously when she said, “I did not seek this responsibility; the voices on the street forced me to.” This comment has sparked various questions. A horse that doesn’t want to run typically does not win the race.
- Pray that Nepal’s interim leadership, especially Prime Minister Sushila Karki, will be strengthened with wisdom, humility, and courage to govern justly, resist corruption, and place national interest above personal or political pressure (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 8:15).
- Ask God to calm political unrest, guide the energy of Nepal’s politically aware youth toward nation-building, and establish lasting peace, economic reform, and lawful governance in the country (The Holy Bible, Psalm 122:6).
