WEST BANK: A Palestinian American lost his life in the Israeli-occupied West Bank last week during a clash with settlers, U.S. officials reported. Khamis Ayyad, who was in his 40s, passed away on Thursday from smoke inhalation in Silwad, a village located in the central West Bank close to several Israeli settlements, as stated by a U.S. official to CBS News. The Palestinian health ministry mentioned on Friday that the fires were started by settlers targeting homes and vehicles in Silwad, according to Agence France-Presse.

  • Lord, we pray for peace in the region and healing for those affected by the violence. May your presence bring comfort to families grieving the loss of their loved ones, and may hearts be turned towards reconciliation (The Holy Bible, John 16:33).
  • Lord, we pray for protection over the communities in the West Bank, that you may shield them from violence and unrest. We pray for wisdom for leaders and peace in the hearts of all involved (The Holy Bible, 2 Corinthians 1:3).
