MALDIVES: The Medicines Authority (MFDA) has warned it may take legal action against individuals and businesses illegally selling weight-loss medicines. Authorities have expressed growing concerns about the marketing of unapproved products online and through unauthorized channels. These medicines pose serious health risks due to unknown ingredients, incorrect dosages, and lack of medical supervision.
The MFDA urged the public to purchase medicines only from licensed pharmacies and consult healthcare professionals. The warning underscores the need for stronger regulation and public awareness to protect consumer safety.
- Pray for honesty, accountability, and ethical standards within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, so medicines serve healing and not harm (The Holy Bible, Jeremiah 33:6).
- Pray that authorities enforce laws wisely and courageously, stopping illegal drug sales and safeguarding lives, especially the vulnerable (The Holy Bible, Romans 13:3–4).
