ALGERIA: The colonial mindset seeks out fresh ways to exploit people instead of feeling guilt or shame. France once controlled Algeria and built its wealth by using Algerian labor. Today, it continues to treat the descendants of those Algerians and other North Africans—who are now third- and fourth-generation French citizens—unfairly through media portrayals and police violence. For a nation that promotes liberty, equality, and brotherhood, this unjust treatment of those it once exploited represents a significant contradiction in history. Only by confronting the past and ensuring fairness in labor-related inequalities can we achieve true justice.

  • Lord, we lift up all workers who have suffered exploitation, unsafe conditions, and discrimination. Heal the physical and emotional wounds caused by injustice, and restore dignity to those whose labor was used without fairness or care. Let Your justice prevail where systems have failed (The Holy Bible, Psalms 106:3).
  • Father, we ask that governments, institutions, and industries confront their past and present injustices. Replace pride and denial with repentance and truth, and transform systems built on exploitation into instruments of fairness, equality, and peace (The Holy Bible, Proverbs 31:25).
