The tropical region of central Indonesia experiences a rainy season that begins in September and lasts until April. This season has already seen disastrous landslides in the Central Java region due to heavy rains. Homes have washed away. So far, the landslides have killed at least 18 people, with dozens still missing. Search efforts are challenging, especially when people are trapped beneath 10 to 25 feet of debris. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected as rescue workers continue to search tirelessly for them.

The city of Cilicap was severely affected when a landslide buried a dozen houses in Cibeaunying village. The landslide has killed 16 people, with 7 still missing. A landslide on Saturday in Banjarnegara in Central Java killed two, with 27 people missing. The risk of heavy rainfall and flooding remains high.

Let us pray for:

God to comfort the hearts of those who have lost loved ones (The Bible, Psalm 40:1).

This disaster makes Indonesians seriously think about their eternal destiny and invite Jesus Christ into their hearts as their Savior and Comforter (The Bible, John 3:3).

Christian Believers to actively share the incredible message of salvation through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice with their neighbors who may not have heard the Gospel. It is an opportunity to witness the profound love and hope that comes from Christ and to spark meaningful conversations about faith and salvation! (The Bible, Romans 5:8).
